RE: Building evacuation drill information

As we begin a new academic year, it is important that we take a moment to emphasize our commitment to emergency preparedness and response for everyone here at SSU. Keeping our students, faculty, staff, and community members safe is one of our greatest campus priorities.

As part of the university’s emergency preparedness efforts and in compliance with fire code requirements, SSU is conducting building evacuation drills for all academic and administrative buildings on Wednesday, August 23 and Thursday, August 24. SSU makes every effort to ensure our staff, faculty and students are prepared for an emergency. These drills help prepare our campus community in the event of a building evacuation and are required by fire code. For detailed information on evacuations and the role employees play in evacuations, please review the Emergency Services Evacuation Procedures information.

For employees in new or changing work locations on campus, Building Emergency Plans that outline general evacuation and response procedures are available to all students, faculty and staff.

As a reminder, SSU conducts a test of our emergency notification system at the beginning of each semester to ensure our campus community is prepared in the event of an emergency. More information on this semester's test will be sent via email soon. For more information about emergency management at SSU, please visit emergency.sonoma.edu.
