RE: TIMELY WARNING CRIME BULLETIN: Update to Sexual Assault Investigation (23-194)

This Timely Warning Bulletin is being issued in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act, and the purpose is to provide preventative information to the campus community to aid members from becoming the victim of a similar crime.

This timely warning includes an incident of sexual violence that may be distressing for some readers. This bulletin is being issued to provide important safety information. If this content is difficult to read, please seek support from a trusted resource.

REPORTED CRIME

The Sonoma State University Police Department wants to assure the community that the Department is doing everything possible to identify the subject of this investigation and to keep the community safe.

We continue to seek the community's help in providing any information that would assist in identifying the subject. We have obtained additional information about the subject, including updated subject features and a sketch. (See sketches below)

Initial Subject Description

As provided on Sunday, September 3, 2023, the subject is described as a Hispanic or Latino male, 19-22 years old, medium to heavier build, with black hair, a goatee and stubble. He was described as having tattoos, and was wearing black “cargo” style pants and a gray t-shirt with a picture of a sunset on the front and back. He may have also been carrying a black sweatshirt or hoodie.

Additional subject description

The subject has been described as being olive-complected, possibly over 6 feet tall, and does not speak with an accent. The subject was described as having a “reptile-like” tattoo on his right forearm and a tattoo with at least the number “198” on his left tricep. Also, the subject is described as having an eye-freckle in his left eye, a mole next to his left nostril, and acne on the left side of his mouth toward the left cheek. (See sketches below)

  • Immediately and promptly report any suspected crime, suspicious persons, or activities on campus to University Police by calling 911 or the non-emergency line at 707-664-4444 or by utilizing one of the many Blue Light Phones on campus.
  • If you believe that you or someone else is in an unsafe situation, please do not delay calling 911 or seeking assistance from others.
  • Be alert to your surroundings. Your actions as an active bystander can help prevent crimes from occurring within our campus community.
  • Call 707-664-4444 for an on-campus safety escort.
