Greetings from Financial Services. This is the time of year we are busy getting our systems setup for Fall registration, packaging Financial Aid for new students, awarding scholarships for Fall, and beginning to prepare for our year-end activities, all this on top of our usual daily work. Speaking of year-end activities, SSU recently received the highest ranking of any CSU
campus from the Chancellor’s office for quality and timeliness of the submissions for 2021/22 year-end financial reporting, earning a photo of SSU on the front cover of the systemwide audited financial statements. Thank you all for contributing to this achievement.
We also want to share a few items that will be coming up in the future. The Chancellor’s office and eight pilot campuses are working on implementing a systemwide Procure-to-Pay (P2P) solution that will fundamentally transform the way the university acquires goods and services. The P2P initiative is Phase 3 of the CSUBUY Program. Some of the key benefits of P2P will include streamlined procurement and payment processes to increase efficiency, improve the user experience, and the elimination of manual touchpoints. SSU is currently on schedule to go live on P2P in late fall of 2023. Secondly, the US Dept. of Education is working on redesigning the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2024-25. This is the most ambitious and significant redesign of the federal student aid application and delivery in decades, and will significantly simplify how students, parents, and other educational stakeholders use the FAFSA. This is good news for our future students.
Thanks for letting us share.
Cordially,
David Crozier, AVP Financial Services
Look At What We Are Doing!
A & F All Stars! VP Ahmed wanted a program that recognizes MPP and staff members, within the Administration & Finance division, who distinguish themselves in their performance and contributions to the university. At his request, the A & F All Stars program was established and will recognize up to one MPP and three staff members each semester. Nominations can be made using the A & F All Stars Nomination Form and will be reviewed by a group of peers, one MPP and two staff members. The recipients will be announced at the semi annual Managers meeting. If you would like to be part of the first review committee, please email hodenfie@sonoma.edu.
Carson Williams would like to give Shanon Little a shout out for the presentation and Q/A that she provided to EOP on March 1. The feedback was par excellence. Good job and strong work!
Welcome Back! The Information Technology folks have returned to the Administration & Finance division as of April 1, no joke! They will continue to work out of the Schulz Information Center and have been added one of the departments reporting to the Vice President of Administration & Finance.
Graduation is such a huge accomplishment. Please help us acknowledge the student employees from A & F that are graduating this Spring. Please send your students' name and the degree(s) they are graduating with by April 25 to hodenfie@sonoma.edu. If you have a photo of them, send it too. This will be shared in the May newsletter!
And speaking of graduating, how many in A & F graduated from SSU? And some did it twice! Do you have a photo or two of that day you'd be willing to share? Please send to hodenfie@sonoma.edu by April 25, 2023.
Did you happen to come across folks from Facilities snapping pictures throughout campus recently? They may have been participating in the Facilities Photo Scavenger Hunt this past February. A list of 25 pictures were to be taken throughout campus including selfies, photos of co-workers, customers, campus landmarks, and more. Enjoy a few of their submissions below.
Sustainability at SSU
Since 1970, each year on April 22, there have been Earth Day celebrations. This year, the students, faculty and staff of SSU are invited to participate in a
Campus Earth Day community building event April 19 from 10am-12pm on campus. Community, celebrating our beautiful campus, a friendly competition and pizza! Sign-up to participate and receive important logistical details regarding this event. Plus, the first 100 folks (students, faculty, staff) that register will get a t-shirt. A limited supply of gloves will also be available, and if you have your own gardening/work gloves, please bring them.
The Students for Sustainability Club has also been planning an Earth Day event to take place on April 20 in the Seawolf Plaza and Person Lawn. This event will be held from 12-2 p. m. and promises to be interactive as well as educational.

April 6, 2023 - One Day, One Sonoma State. #AllForSonomaState
Sonoma State University’s Giving Day is an annual fundraising event that will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2023. For 24 hours, Noma Nation will come together to help Sonoma State achieve more: broader educational access and greater opportunities that help prepare students to make a difference in the world. Funds raised on Giving Day will help us meet students’ most urgent needs, increase scholarships, and will provide funding to support the programs and initiatives that continue to transform the future of Sonoma State. For more information and how to give and get involved visit the Giving Day webpage.
