Happy (Fiscal) New Year!
Happy New Year! It's hard to believe a year has passed since our last celebration. And, at the same time, it seems like it has been a decade. So much has happened this past year. While it has been a difficult year, it has also been a year of hope. PSPSs, the Kincade Fire, fires across the world, the world-wide pandemic, and the murder of George Floyd have impacted our lives tremendously this past year. These events have given us pause to reflect on our values and what is most important in our lives. And as a result, we have been encouraged to come together with caring, concern, and a call for change.
As I reflect on the past year, the feeling that comes to mind is gratitude. I feel blessed to work with such a wonderful group of people. We have seen some of our friends leave Sonoma State to head out on new adventures and we have invited some new friends to join our team. I send my thanks to each of you for all you do each and every day to support our students, our campus, and our community.
I will miss seeing all of you at the fiscal year-end chocolate fountain celebration this year. I look forward to this every year! So, I think we should have a virtual celebration. Please join me in raising a glass of bubbly of your choice and eating a s'more or something chocolate. We are ringing in a New Year with hope and gratitude. Cheers!
