In some ways, it feels like 2024 went by in a blink. With what can feel like an endless number of tasks, meetings, and projects, it's easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of another year without ever taking a moment back to reflect on all the accomplishments along the way. What's Happening on Campus
The SSE Team Wins Big at NACAS
The National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) recognized two members of Sonoma State Enterprises with awards at this year's annual conference.
Neil Markley, Associate Vice President for Administration & Finance, received the 2024 Robert F. Newton Award for Distinguished Service - the organization's highest honor. NACAS recognized Neil's decade of extraordinary contributions to the auxiliary services profession including impactful leadership, advocacy, and dedication to service on committees and boards.
Lauren Antoni, Director for University Culinary Services, was a part of the DIAL Cohort, which received the Edwin R. Golden Award for Inclusive Excellence. This award recognizes outstanding efforts in promoting cultural awareness and inclusion in the field of college auxiliary management.
Spread Some Cheer
University Police is excited to announce this year’s 2024 Christmas Toy Drive - in Partnership with Rohnert Park-Cotati Rotary Club, a tradition that’s been embraced by our community, bringing joy to hundreds of children! Last year, the drive served approximately 350 kids around Rohnert Park and Cotati, and they are hoping to reach even more this holiday season.
Toys and giftcards can be dropped off to the University Police Department in Verdot Village up through December 13, 2024. For more information, contact police@sonoma.edu.
Shoutouts!
Going the Extra Mile
Chris Cowrin in IT received a shoutout from a faculty member in Engineering for going above and beyond to troubleshoot an issue they were experiencing with email. "Many thanks to you and the IT Department personnel for the the hard work and dedication".
Weathering the Storm
Thank you everyone who contributed to keep the campus running smoothly during the recent storms! Timely reports of leaks, floods, downed branches, and other hazards to the Facilities Management team helped to ensure problematic areas could be addressed and quickly as possible. Shoutout to the staff in Facilities Management who worked throughout the inclement weather to keep the campus safe and running!
A New Way to Buy
Kudos to the Contracts, Procurement, and AP Teams who successfully launched CSU Procure-to-Pay (P2P) at SSU on November 18th! Their teams have been hard at work transitioning the campus and vendors to the new system, including conducting various workshops and trainings for folks across the campus. It's an exciting time for the campus as we move into this new phase!
Main Campus Entrance Updates
A big thank you to the Facilities Management Maintenance and Landscaping teams, along with West Coast Arborists and Wheeler Zamaroni, for all their work to remove a redwood stump and roots which had caused the sidewalk at the main campus entrance to buckle. The area has now been resurfaced for safety and the landscaping team is preparing to fill the vacant bed with new plants.
